 Livebox faster than other ADSL modems ???!

I'm struggling to make my Fritz 7140 go faster than my livebox. ADSL works fine, but regardless of my tests (with/without filter - close/far from PTT box) ... I never can get speeds matching the Livebox. Livebox=6400/1024 Fritz (max)= 4500/760 Has anyone else got the same or even better performance with something else than the Livebox ? Better performance with speedtouch 546. BUT it was faster only after i'd tweaked the speedtouch. And even then it is faster in download speed only, for upload it is still outperformed by the livebox, as I can only influence my end of the connection, not the dslam side. Using standard settings my speedtouch is also slower than the livebox. This can be easily explained though: the modems delivered by any provider are usually selected to specifically match the provider's dslams. In this case the livebox seems to be the best match for the infineon dslam ('s current settings) Orange uses. The speedtouch is much more stable than the livebox has ever been though, that's my reason for replacing the livebox. Oh and something else: check the protocol your fritz modem is set to. If you set it to operate in ADSL mode, it will successfully connect but you will be limited to ADSL speeds. If you can set it to use the ADSL 2+ protocol, like the livebox uses, you should be able to get closer to the livebox's speed. Gewijzigd door rrozema op 23 March 2008, 17:41 |

And not every modem can be tweaked. So generally the livebox will be faster then other modems. |
